About
I'm Kaan Köken, a senior software engineer based in Deurne, Netherlands. Most people know me as Legolas. That started in college and never left.
Six years in, I've shipped across the whole stack: Go and Rust backends, SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose apps, Flutter, and the web. I've built OTT streaming for millions of users, payment flows across Stripe and StoreKit and Play Billing, and AI products that are live today.
The work I like best sits where product meets systems. At Morfeu AI I lead mobile for two AI apps, Laila and Again, and I wrote the Go backends that feed them. Before that I led a small team on an OTT platform, drove the ANR rate down to 0.09%, and cut regression bugs by 40% with real TDD.
Outside the day job I build my own things. Voluble translates speech to speech in under 3 seconds and got me into the YC S26 pool. Coati shares a single Rust core between an iOS and an Android app through UniFFI. And I read a lot of other people's code, which is how most of my open-source work starts: a bug, a missing feature, a dependency that needs dragging into this decade.
I graduated in Computer Engineering from METU with honours. I speak Turkish natively, English at C1, and enough Dutch to embarrass myself at the bakery.
When I'm not at a keyboard there's a Border Collie named Loki who makes sure I'm up early, a LEGO pile that keeps growing, and a Dota 2 rank I'm still chasing.
